The Application Process

How the Process Works

Our application process is designed to be straightforward and accessible for students and families.

  • Confirm that the student meets the basic eligibility requirements. See the FAQs for more details.

  • Complete the appropriate online application form - new or renewing.

  • Referrals should be able to speak to the child’s talent and motivation for music lessons.

Referrals must be completed by a music teacher and/or another non‑parent adult, as applicable.

Ex #1: one classroom teacher, one music teacher

Ex #2: one knowledgable non-parent adult, one classroom teacher

Renewing Scholars must only provide a recommendation from their current Prep Program instructor

  • Applications are reviewed by the Pratt Music Foundation Board Members.

  • Applicants will be notified of decisions after the review process is complete.
